1. Worry No More (Ba-Ba-Da)
She believes in the fairies
And I believe in her
She thinks we're rich if we've got
A couple dollars
And avocados to burn
I'm down again, to my friend's last dollar
And I've been down this road before
I come by my problems honestly
But honestly, I don't want to worry no more
Ba-da-da*
She warns me again
Things left unsaid
And the illusion of control
She's got the heart of a Gypsy
A talisman for what would kill my soul.
I'm down again, to my friend's last dollar
And I've been down this road before
I come by my problems honestly
But honestly, I don't want to worry no more
Ba-da-da*
2. A Few More Almosts
Almost played a Late Night show
Almost made the pages of Rolling Stone
Almost bought a bus, from a lot in Palmetto
Hell we almost let this thing go
We burned some bridges down in Nashville
Found a home in Chicago
Sold out New York City
Almost played Vegas, but it snowed. Man it snowed
We're winning for losing
Guess that's how it goes
Making something from nothing
Out of every almost
So light up your cigar
'Cause we're that kind of close
Making something from nothing
Out of every almost
Almost no way to know
If these are just stories
For when we're old
But that's just how it goes
So here's a toast to being oh-so-close.
We're winning for losing
Guess that's how it goes
Making something from nothing
Out of every almost
So light up your cigar
'Cause we're that kind of close
Making something from nothing
Out of every almost
4. Better Than OK
We grew up just shy of trouble
Just south of sober
We put our heads and no money down
On student loans and mortgages
For all our talk of dreaming and leaving
Man, we're still here
Hey-ey-ey
I'm better than OK
A little further than I thought I would be
I'm all good as long as there's a you and me
And it turns out there's nothing wrong
With 40 hours and three weeks of paid
Sitting round a fire on a Friday
Rolling ashtray quarters for a couple of beers
For all our talk of dreaming and leaving
Man, we're still here
Hey-ey-ey
I'm better than OK
A little further than I thought I would be
I'm all good as long as there's a you and me
State highways and morning drives
Working 9-to-5s
And small town roads that dont' let go.
Hey-ey-ey
I'm better than OK
A little further than I thought I would be
I'm all good as long as there's a you and me
5. KEEP OUR 'BOWS
Propped up on the dashboard
Of the first car I ever owned
Kicked off, in the beach sand
I was caught up in your undertow
Under the bed in your dormroom
Back porch of your summer house
Hotel room down in Newport
Castle outside of Dublin town
The four walls, they've never mattered
The four wheels just need to roll
Home's not where we hang our hat up
Home's where, we keep our 'Bows.
Been so long since we began
I always end up next to you
Wearing holes in the soles of Rainbows
My home is alway you
The four walls, they've never mattered
The four wheels just need to roll
Home's not where we hang our hat up
Home's where, we keep our 'Bows.
6. Leaving with You
I can finally breathe
Now that the whispers have died
It's funny what you can see
Staring into vacant eyes
I'm not sure if we'll make it
Least we can say we tried
Couldn't care if the grass is greener
Just never seen a sky so blue
You know I ain't afraid of leaving
As long as I'm leaving with you
I'm not ashamed to believe
It's how I've gotten by
It's not the things you receive
It's the joy you leave behind
I'm not sure if we'll make it
Least we can say we tried
Couldn't care if the grass is greener
Just never seen a sky so blue
You know I ain't afraid of leaving
As long as I'm leaving with you
7. Give a Damn
Trying to make sense of
Where I've landed
Trying to make sense of it all
The closer I get
To understanding
The closer I get to the fall
They'll sell you a miracle
But I'll be just fine
Like water, I find my level
And honey you can bring the wine
The closer I get to understanding
The less that I give a damn
I said, the closer I get to understanding
The less that I give a damn
If I could have anything
Of my choosing
Baby I'm choosing you
Of all the things
I'd hate for losing
Losing you would be mine too
They'll sell you a miracle
But I'll be just fine
Like water, I find my level
And honey you can bring the wine
The closer I get to understanding
The less that I give a damn
I said, the closer I get to understanding
The less that I give a damn
They'll sell you a miracle
But I'll be just fine
Like water, I find my level
And honey you can bring the wine
The closer I get to understanding
The less that I give a damn
I said, the closer I get to understanding
The less that I give a damn
8. Bad for the Morning (Good for the soul)
I tied one on right into Tuesday
Found a new way to feel by days
Been so long since I finished drinking
I'm forgetting what I did to feel this way
Every time I get to drinking
I get to thinking that I'm through
But honey, it's been such a long week
Time for doing what we do
Bad for the morning
But good for the soul
Bad for the morning
But good for the soul
You think by now that I'd know better
but no better have I been
Somehow knowing what I've known
I'd still do it all, all again
Every time I get to drinking
I get to thinking that I'm through
But honey, it's been such a long week
Time for doing what we do
Bad for the morning
But good for the soul
Bad for the morning
But good for the soul
9. Ted's Last Game
Gramps kept score from the right field box
The day Updike bid The Kid adieu
One-and-one and one last swing
Ran the bases and he was through
You know what's said about
Gods and letters they receive
He never tipped his cap
In the mid-September breeze
I was ten when he let me in
Pulled out out his scorecard magazine
"Ted's Last Game" scrawled out in his own hand
That perfect autograph underneath
You know what's said about
Gods and letters they receive
I find my answers ride
On the mid-September breeze
The mid-September breeze
The stars came out to Fenway the summer that I turned 19
Henry checked the tickets at the door
For everyone but me it seemed
Suddenly, The Kid was there, just looking to know the score
He looked around
And smiled at me
Now they're both gone and that scorecard's mine
A piece I get to keep with me
Suddenly I'm ten years old
All baseball cards and AM dreams
You know what's said about
Gods and letters they receive
I found it takes some time
On the mid-September breeze
You know what's said about
Gods and letters they receive
I find my answers ride
On the mid-September breeze
The mid-September breeze
10. Flying Blind
She finally caught her breath
In the fields of Carolina
Bound for Orlando on the Silver Meteor
She left from Pennsylvania Station
With her sister Mary
Clutching that letter she got from the boy from St. Jerome's
At 100 miles-an-hour, everythign by the horizon is a blur
She took courage from his words, agreed she wasn't keen on waiting out the wor.
Something reckless, about the Irish
When it comes to love and dreaming
Not afraid as, they maybe should be
When it comes to what they believe in
He never wrote another poem
After he got back from the war
Put his medals in a box back in '45
They made sure they built a family
Not afraid of flying blind.
Now his grandson has his name
Like his father did before him
And it's the proudest thing that they own
They still hop up on the bar, just like they did before him
Every time they hear Danny Boy
Something reckless, about the Irish
When it comes to love and dreaming
Not afraid as, they maybe should be
When it comes to what they believe in
He never wrote another poem
After he got back from the war
Put his medals in a box back in '45
They made sure they built a family
Not afraid of flying blind.
