NOVEMBER 3, 2024
On November 3, the band is headlining Chief's on Broadway in Nashville right after the Patriots game. It's the latest in a long-line of Dalton shows planned around Boston sports teams playing in other cities.
At the height of the Brady-Belichick Patriots, it was easier (and sometimes cheaper!) to fly to other cities to see games. We took this idea (and the fact that we liked to have a reason to go see the teams in other cities) and started planning shows around them.
The first trip was planned as a test run. We ended up selling out five shows across three days. Two years ago, the schedules lined up to play after the Bruins played the Preds. Here's five questions with the boys about that trip and the upcoming Chief's show!
The Nash trip was a whirlwind. What do you remember from going to the Bruins game?
Denn: The Bruins boys really put on a show for us that day… it was great and I love how Nashville has live bands play during the game haha. Get on that Boston!
Scully: My dad flew in for the show, which was awesome. He played hockey right before he left Florida, so he had his gear with him at the airport. And then we drove to meet the rest of the family down in Naples after the show. It was pretty epic. Also, I may have vaulted a barrier and almost got into my first fight in 20 years on Broadway ‘cause someone was giving Jamie trouble.
Dan: It was actually my first time going to a hockey game as the visiting team's fan and I remember feeling a little bad because of the beating the Bruins put on the Preds that night. They put on an absolute clinic which really got the trip started on a good note.
Joey: It was awesome getting to experience how Bridgestone Arena does a hockey game. Like the things they do with the crowd during breaks and how they have a band playing on one side of the arena. If anywhere is going to have that, it’s going to be Music City!
Jay: I got on TV! (Thanks NESN!) but seriously, the game itself was amazing. We absolutely dominated in their city and the crowd was electric. Definitely set us up for a good couple of shows!
It’s hard to sell tickets in Nashville. How wild was it to sell out two shows in the same night at the Basement?
Scully: We had this idea back in like 2016, that it was actually cheaper (and more fun) to see the Patriots play in Nashville than it was to go to Gillette. So we put together this trip and ended up selling out five shows across three days. And we haven’t stopped since. It’s crazy how quickly our show sold out at Chief’s for this one.
Dan: That was my first Nashville trip with the band so I didn’t exactly know what to expect going into it the shows and they completely blew me away.
Denn: Pretty sweet man. It was kind of crazy and unique having a little intermission between shows and a new crowd coming in.
Joey: That night at the Basement was great. Full of friends from home but also good Nashville people. I love that we basically just made it one giant long show instead of two separate ones too haha.
Jay: It was WILD. Coming off that B’s win into 2 sold out shows (and a beer or 2, or 3 the night before) for my first Dalton Nashville trip was everything I could have asked for in a travel date.
The travel crew for these shows is nothing short of incredible. How awesome is it to have our friends come on the road with us?
Joey: I can’t say enough how lucky we are to have this whole crew of friends that want to support us like they do. It really blows my mind and warms my heart every time any of them come to a show outside of Boston. They all have such big hearts and are so fun loving and we’re beyond lucky to have people like them in our lives. We’ll play anywhere and to anyone…but it feels like a real Dalton show when they’re there.
Dan: The core group of friends and family that travel with us are what make it all possible. It really makes the out of town shows that much more special.
Denn: It’s the greatest feeling in the world. They make every stage feel like home.
Jay: Outside of the music we make, it’s my favorite thing. Nothing in life lasts forever but experiences and memories with good people are with you until the day you’re gone. We have an incredible group of people and we always have the best times.
We have a sold out show coming up at Chief’s on Nov. 4. How excited are you to have that on the books?
Jay: The first time we played Chief’s was a party. You couldn’t ask for a better on the road show. Picturing that plus 100 more people while the Pats are in town….let’ssss goooooooooo. It’s safe to say that I think about it at least once a day.
Denn: Chief’s is one of the most fun venues we’ve played for me. Staff is top notch, sound and vibe is incredible. To have that room filled is really going to be special.
Dan: This one has been circled on the calendar since it was announced. It’s such a special place and for us to have the opportunity to play there never mind fill the place blows my mind.
Joey: The November 3rd show at Chief’s is going to be wild. I feel like we all have a certain reverence for Nashville, being country music fans and musicians. So getting to play there a third time, AND it’s at Chief’s, AND it’s sold out? That’s amazing and just unreal.
Scully: These travel dates have become so much fun. We’re actually going to do one in Chicago this year, too. People in the industry do not understand how it happens. But, I think if you’re from Boston, it makes sense.
Nashville is a place for bad decisions. Who is in for getting a tattoo while we’re there?
Denn: Love the idea but I actually have a very serious phobia of being written on with a pen so I can’t do it. I’m dead serious.
Joey: Ask me after a few Jack and diets…
Scully: We should go where Fawn went.
Jay: I feel like this one was pointed…and I love it. Bad decisions in a fun city and a new tattoo to throw somewhere on my body after 22 Shiner Bocks? Sign me up!
Dan: Maybe we step it up a notch and all get piercings? Is that a thing people do still?
