Kate and I have been writing together since 1996. For the past 10 months, as we began to dig ourselves out, we have been writing songs non-stop. Today, we are proud to announce that we will be putting out a new record called Minot with Benny Grotto producing an incredible lineup of studio musicians down in Nashville at the famous Blackbird Studio. The record comes out on April 10, 2027 at a record release party at one of my favorite venues. The first singles will drop in this winter.
Going forward — and out of respect for the contributions of this last, most important, lineup of Sheriffs — we’ll be using the name Dalton in promotional materials.
This will not be an instant transition. Simply put, we lack the money and connections to make a name change official. For right now, our materials will reflect the name Dalton and the stuff that has to stay Dalton & the Sheriffs (Spotify, Ticketmaster, etc) will stay that way. But, it feels like a natural transition.
For “Minot” support shows, we’ve built a lineup of some of our oldest friends to fill out a new backing band to help bring this new record to life on stage. We’ll be announcing some incredible shows shortly.
Are we out of the woods yet? No.
But it’s time to start.
